What’s With the Photos?

Most of my mornings begin with zazen, the Buddhist practice of just sitting and non-thinking. Since I started it a few years ago, it’s deepened my awareness of several truths from Buddhism, including the idea that everything is impermanent.

What I do after zazen continues in the same spirit: I go downstairs, walk outside to get the paper, and simply pay mindful attention. Often my wife’s flowers capture that attention, and they’re good for this sort of exercise: they epitomize both impermanence and the beauty the present moment can hold.

Over time I’ve taken photos of her flowers and a few other things as well. I thought you might enjoy using them to enhance your own mindfulness. Take a wander through the website and see what they say to you.
